Childcare and leisure time

Not just school: a precious and unique collection of games and childcare materials.

MudEd is a museum “of education” and not just “of school” because the collected materials relate not only to school life, which is more institutional, but also to extracurricular activities, leisure time, and childhood within the home, as well as the care and development of boys and girls.

The Museum’s toy collection both significant and extensive, featuring items that document play activities for both boys and girls, from the late nineteenth century through the twentieth century.
Children’s toys have existed in all civilizations since ancient times, but their quality and distribution have been influenced by social, cultural, and economic factors. This is why the history of toys and their creation provides an insight into the context in which they were used, as well as their role in the development of the individual.
